Ellen is an expert in the art of moulage - the centuries-old European technique of three-dimensional design in which new patterns are created directly on a custom dress form built to the client’s exact measurements and form. A muslin toile is developed on the custom dress form, and refined through a series of fittings. When perfected, the toile is carefully deconstructed and used as the final pattern. Each of Ellen's creations is a unique marriage of art and exacting science, resulting in a gown that is truly one of a kind.

At the initial consultation, a very detailed set of measurements will be taken. The first fitting is a very detailed measuring appointment, followed by muslin toile fittings, where the lines of the dress are defined to compliment your body and the shape is perfected before the silks and laces are cut. Multiple silk fittings take place as the dress evolves and is precisely hand-crafted to fit you, before the final fitting.

From initial inspiration and sketches to the very final fitting, Ellen considers silhouette, balance, proportion, and color to ensure each dress is not only outstanding but suits an occasion perfectly.

Custom Corsetry

Ellen achieves the unparalleled fit and exquisite silhouettes of her bespoke evening gowns with a custom-designed and hand-constructed internal bustier or corset. Designed to fit and shape your curves precisely, the internal bustier is built into the gown, replacing off-the-rack bras and shapewear.

Ellen sources only from mills and vendors that share her ethos for excellence and ethical production, from smooth Italian duchess satin, satin organzas, gazars, and chiffons to fine French laces.
